Case studie

For Driving Growth

An established national service provider operating in the manufacturing space, was ready to take the next step. They wanted to get their business ready for next stage growth and needed some help to ensure that they had the necessary processes, procedures and understanding of their business and the market required for success.

What we did

We carried out a comprehensive strategy review with the leadership team and delivered to them an action plan that detailed key recommendations and priorities for the team to implement. We then worked with the team over the next few months providing implementation support of the key actions.

The impact

The result – an organisation with the necessary processes and procedures in place for development and growth, and an informed and empowered leadership team committed to a clear strategic direction. Equally as important, with our implementation support of the action plan, the team was well on the way to achieving their growth objective.

For Improved Decision-Making

An education provider was looking to increase student retention and new enrolments. They wanted to better understand the changing demographics of their catchment area so that they could better engage with their current and potential community.

What we did

We carried out a comprehensive analysis of their existing demographic data relating to their students and families and incorporated external socio-demographic data from a number of different sources. We also extended the analysis to include the financial implications associated with the different socio-demographic segments of their community. We delivered a written report of the results and presented the findings to both the provider’s management team and board.

The impact

The result – a management team and board with an improved understanding of the provider’s catchment and how the information could be used to improve the approaches used to attract and retain students. This also included consideration of the impact of the current fee structure.

For Improved Resource Management

A Government department wanted to better understand one of Australia’s key Agribusiness industries to help their team prioritise limited resources in those areas most likely to have the greatest impact on the development and growth of the sector.

What we did

We designed and implemented comprehensive stakeholder consultations, which involved engagement with lead thinkers across the key stakeholder groups. This was complemented by a supporting search, review and analysis of secondary information sources. The results highlighted the industry’s key capabilities and limitations, and based on these insights, key recommendations for improving engagement with existing stakeholders and attracting new stakeholders that would ultimately help to develop and grow the industry. The results were presented as both a written report and as a presentation to key staff.

The impact

The result – a team now equipped with the in-depth knowledge about the industry and a set of clear recommendations for improved resource management and stakeholder engagement that would help to develop and grow the industry.

For Product Development

An organisation specialising in the provision of patented horticultural and commercial food preservation technology required support with its research and development work.

What we did

We provided the organisation with additional research support capability. This included the co-design of a new research plan, the analysis and reporting of trial data and the presentation of technical findings in a way that could be more readily digested by a non-technical audience.

The impact

The result – an organisation with a clear and focused research and development plan, and a set of results that could be easily communicated to third parties for investment attraction and ongoing product development.

For Driving Sales

An Australian company specialising in retail technology had developed a new innovative labelling system. The company needed help to obtain the necessary evidence to prove that their innovative new product would deliver the results that the inventors had anticipated.

What we did

We designed a live trial in a retail setting to capture the results that would demonstrate if the product performed as expected. This involved co-designing the trial with the owner of the retail test setting and also the company, as well as undertaking the analysis of the baseline line and trial data. We provided the company’s management team with a written report of the findings from the trial. We also provided relevant findings to the trial site owner (a different organisation).

The impact

The result – the company now had independently analysed results based on a robustly designed trial of its product that could be shared with potential business customers and was also be used to further refine the product.

For Securing On-Going Funds

An Australian industry body specialising in supporting the education sector had developed a new innovative online platform to facilitate engagement with its members and provide them with services. The organisation needed to understand if the platform was delivering the intended outcomes and meeting the needs of its members.

What we did

We designed and implemented an evaluation of the platform. This included detailing the usage data required for the evaluation, designing surveys and facilitating workshops with key stakeholders. We presented the findings to the organisation’s management team along with a written report of the evaluation findings.

The impact

The result – the industry body now had documented evidence that the new program was performing as expected and that it had engaged members. Additionally, we provided recommendations for improvements to the program that were identified during the evaluation for the management team’s consideration.

After a period of upheaval and turmoil in South Australia’s homelessness sector, the Hutt St Centre Board engaged Dr Marisa Maio Mackay and Complete the Picture to conduct a comprehensive environmental scan of the sector to inform its future direction and strategy.

Marisa was extremely positive and thorough in her engagement with the Centre’s leadership and sector stakeholders. She quickly identified and interrogated complex key issues and was able to offer highly insightful, data-informed insights that logically led to a review and alignment of the Centre’s strategy for the future.
